Do you not resemble the young man
of whom the Gospel speaks
who asked what he should do
to be perfect and to arrive
at the Kingdom of Heaven:
"I will do this," he said.
He was told "Leave everything....
leave yourself, to follow Christ."
These words terrifed him
and he turned away.

St. Matthew was prompt
in responding to the grace of vocation.
Our Lord said to him, "Follow me."
And Matthew obeying at once
left his office, his relatives and his friends
and became the faithful apostle of Jesus Christ.
Well, know that He asks no less of you.

You are beginning to run the race
of your vocation. Run! Run at great speed,
without looking behind.
Run without stopping.
Follow constantly and truly
the route traced for you.

When God calls and is heard,
He gives all that is needed.
